January Special Offering
The special offering in January is for local families in need. Our economy is getting better but there are still so many who are having difficulties making ends meet. In Matthew 25:35-40, Jesus said. "'I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you received me in your homes, naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me, in prison and you visited me.' The righteous will then answer him, 'When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink? When did we ever see you a stranger and welcome you in our homes, or naked and clothe you? When did we ever see you a sick or in prison, and visit you?' The King will reply, 'I tell you, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these followers of mine, you did it for me!'"
Please consider sharing your plenty with our neighbors in need.
Faith, In Hebe
The United Church of Christ launched a new initiative for local ministry in 2012 called the "Faith, In Project," the program seeks both to promote local church engagement in their communities, and to raise the visibility of churches' love and care for their local neighbors.
After reviewing this project and its goals, (as well as realizing that our church already DOES a lot of this), our Church Council has approved having David’s UCC join the Faith, In project. Our official community name is “David’s UCC Hebe PA.” Suggested future projects to help our community include planting flowers, installing a bench, and putting up birdhouses around Hebe’s community pond; and participating in a back-to-school “pack the backpack” project. Got an idea for our community? Let us know! For more information, go to http://faithinproject.com/.
